Academy

Academy
The school established at Athens by Plato in the 380s bc, probably intended to prepare men to serve the city‐state. It was as a philosophical centre that it became celebrated, its students including the philosophers Aristotle , Epicurus , and Zeno of Citium . Much of its history is obscure, but it survived until its closure by Justinian I in 529 AD .
