Abdul Hamid II

Abdul Hamid II (known as ‘the Great Assassin’ Hamid ) ( 1842 – 1918 )
Sultan of Turkey ( 1876 – 1909 ). An autocratic ruler, he suspended Parliament and the constitution and is remembered for the brutal massacres of Christian Armenians in 1894 – 96 . In 1909 he was deposed after the revolt in the previous year of the Young Turks .
