102 Dalmatians (2000) 102 Dalmatians

102 Dalmatians ★½ 2000 (G) Lackluster sequel to the 1996 live-action Disney film finds Cruella De Vil (Close) being released from prison and teaming up with fur designer Jean Pierre Le Pelt (Depardieu). She still wants that dalmatian fur coat (and this time a hood as well). The puppies are as cute as ever, with the addition of digitally de-spotted Oddball, but this one just seems like another excuse for Disney to print money and Close to chew scenery. Stick with the original (the 1961 cartoon version, that is). 100m/C VHS, DVD, Wide. Glenn Close, Gerard Depardieu, Ioan Gruffudd, Tim (McInnerny) McInnery, Ian Richardson, Ben Crompton, Jim Carter, Ron Cook, David Horovitch, Timothy West, Alice Evans, Carol MacReady; Director: Kevin Lima; Writer: Bob Tzudiker, Noni White, Kristen Buckley, Brian Regan; Writer: Adrian Biddle; Cameo: David Newman; V: Eric Idle.
