Cars, Boats, Planes, and Trains | Has There Ever Been A Nuclear-Powered Automobile?
Has there ever been a nuclear-powered automobile?
No. In the 1950s, Ford automotive designers envisioned the Ford Nucleon, which was to be propelled by a small atomic reactor core. The core would be located under a circular cover at the rear of the car and would be recharged with nuclear fuel. The car was never built.
